If you have not met Enzo, you have been missing out!
Julie & Enzo has been part of the Dear Pet Family for so long and we absolutely love to work with them. Enzo is beyond cute and loves kisses!
So, from our family to yours, let's get to know this adorable pup and his loving and caring mom!
Can you share with us a bit about Enzo?
Enzo is a miniature dachshund, born CONKASHA YAR ENZO on 30th July 2021.
CONKASHA being his kennel name, YAR meaning friend and companion and ENZO meaning “rules the home”; he really is true to his name!
Enzo is charismatic, humorous and has the most softhearted and gentle nature. Whether he is posing for a photo or engaging in fun activities and chasing soccer balls, Enzo’s expressive eyes, playful nature and big personality is truly captivating and he brings a daily dose of joy, lightheartedness and adorable moments into the lives of everyone he meets. With his short legs and long body, Enzo showcases the undeniable charm of dachshunds.
How has Enzo changed your life?
Enzo has changed my life in more ways than I could ever have imagined. He came into my life at the perfect moment and has given me purpose in life. He gives me a reason to smile and knowing that he needs me as much as I need him, keeps me going. Every decision in my life is made with Enzo’s best interests at heart and he comes first in all aspects. Enzo has an incredible ability to make me smile, and others smile, which is also what makes him an incredible Therapy Dog.
How do you train and teach Enzo new tricks?
Enzo is currently training with a personal trainer to refresh on the fundamental behaviors and skills that we require to take his training to the next level and to earn his CGC Gold. Admittedly, Enzo has a stubborn streak (a typical dachshund behavioral trait) and he is a slow learner. The approach that we take is keeping our training sessions short and regular and ensuring that they always end on a positive note. We celebrate the small wins because we know that the end result will be worth it. We use positive reward based training (reward for good behavior) and we have also used clicker training (using a clicker to mark a desired behavior).
What is Enzo’s favorite thing to do?
Enzo finds joy in almost anything, from shredding boxes and papers, to playing with soccer balls and toys, swimming, play dates and living his best life at doggie daycare with his friends.
Do you have any advice for dachshunds pet owners?
Start your training and socialisation journey early, exercise patience and maintain a consistent and regular routine. Take special care of their nutrition, diet and weight management to protect their back, and limit their ability to jump on and off furniture by providing steps/ramps. Regular exercise and daily walks are vital for their fitness to build strong muscles to support their back and don’t forget to include interactive toys and activities. Above all, have fun together!
